How I pre-sprout my Ranunculus corms
01
Soak in lukewarm water for 3-4 hours. Replace with fresh water every hour and stir in between (i.e., every 30 minutes).
02
Prepare a tray of moist compost with a bit of perlite.
03
Place the corms in the tray of compost after soaking. As this is a temporary location, they can be placed close together. The goal is for the corms to sprout and develop good roots.
04
Cover the corms with a sprinkle of compost or perlite. Covering the tray may be helpful as corms need darkness to germinate. I leave them in a cool, dark area where the temperature is between 17-25 °C for 2-3 weeks.

Pre-sprouting
Soak in lukewarm water, not cold
General
Warmth and moisture are needed for healthy germination; do not let the soil dry out
General
When ready to transplant following the pre-sprout, the sprout/growth can be covered in a bit of compost if it is still short and it will continue to emerge
Potting up
Pot up when roots are starting to grow out of the bottom of the pot
